Tattoos: Friend or Foe?

I just signed on to Rue La La and noticed that they recently changed their background image to a girl with a tattoo of their name on her neck. I feel as though tattoos have become a symbol of my generation. It seems as though everyone I know is "tatted up", whether it be with just one tattoo that defines them or a full sleeve of intricate artwork. This has sparked much conversation in not just my classes, but in the world as a whole about how the business world will be changed as my schoolmates enter the workforce with their body art. I personally have wanted a tattoo for almost four years, but have constantly put it off for fear that I would grow tired of it or that I may lose a job offer by having one. Yet it seems as a whole companies have been changing their policies to allow their associates to have tattoos. The onslaught of celebrity tattoos becoming popular probably hasn't helped the situation. So let me ask you: Is it appropriate to have visible tattoos while at work? I can't seem to decide.
